Haunted by visions of ghosts and spirits since he was young, high-school student Kimihiro Watanuki's discovery of a mysterious shop one day offers him hope that he may finally be free of his torment. This is because the shop's owner, the alluring Ichihara Yuuko, is actually a witch with the power to grant any wish... though the wisher must pay a price equal to the wish desired. And Watanuki's price? He has to work part-time at Yuuko's shop until he pays off the cost of her services. And thus starts his encounter into another world, where nothing is what it seems. From the famous manga group CLAMP, who also created the popular fantasy adventure series Cardcaptor Sakura, xxxHolic is the group's latest masterpiece, combining magic, mystery and comedy in a delectable brew of a show.

Plagued by spirits from young, Watanuki agrees begrudgingly to work for Yuuko in exchange for her ridding him of his supernatural annoyances after he stumbles into her magical shop. So begins Watanuki's association with Yuuko's strange yet hilarious household dealing unhappily with daily chores and running magical errands for Yuuko who grants wishes for a price. More laughter ensues as Watanuki is forced to be nice to his classmate, Shizuka Domeki who can repel spirits, yet is his perceived rival in love.
Having inspired Marvelous Entertainment's Sony PlayStation 2 adventure game 'xxxHOLiC - Watanuki no Izayoi Sowa', xxxHOLiC was also brought to the big screen in animated movie xxxHOLiC: A Midsummer Night's Dream which was selected along international works including Wallace and Gromit and Asterix and the Vikings as a finalist at the prestigious Annecy International Animated Film Festival 2005!
